This number has called me 4 times a day for the past 2-3 weeks now, once in a while they leave a message in broken english quoting a reference number and greeting me with a name that is clearly not the name on my voicemail message. Seems pretty scammy.
This is a phone number used by Statistics Canada employees to contact people to participate in a survey or validate information already submitted.

If you have concerns about the legitimacy of the call, simply inform the person you are speaking with. The vast majority of surveys conducted can be completed online, or they can send you a letter in the mail, and in some situations send som
This is a Stats Can number. They're calling to follow up w/ incomplete Censuses/Secondary surveys.
However, they're calling me because I do all our household paper work but the survey in question asks that the second oldest person in the household completes it. And that ain't me.
Some comments said that this number is listed in statistic Canada which this is a big lie. There is no any number like that is listed in statistic Canada at all!
They left a voicemail stating they were from stats Canada. Stating that I needed to call back and complete mandatory census.
Did not ring them after checking this web site.

As for the accent, you guys are aware we are a very diverse country right?!
I did not pick up when they first called me with "STATSCAN" as the caller ID and left a voicemail with a reference and case #. I called the toll-free official Statistics Canada number at 1-800-263-XXXX to verify and the operator stated that yes, it was an official interview phone number calling to verify census information. Then, they directly routed me to them without having to redial. I live at a secondary residence and they called to confirm that and where my primary residence was.
Left a voicemail stating they were from stats Canada. Stating that I needed to call back and complete mandatory census. I completed the census online immediately after receiving the census notice in the mail and did not call the number back
Called once, i didnt answer. Called a 2nd time & claimed to be from stats can & asked me to verify my address on May 11th. I told her I need to protect my security & privacy so I requested for her to provide me with a method to verify the legitimacy of her call. She proceeded to give me this information: TEL: 18339778287 | BADGE#: 963252862 | Name: XXXX XXXX
After she gave me that information, I expected her to wait for me to verify but she said "have a good one, then hung up".
When I goo
Echoing others, someone saying they're from StatsCan needing to confirm information I submitted in my census survey... I probably would have continued with the conversation had the caller not sounded like a burned out university freshman...
Same call from someone pretending to be from Statscan from a US number. Same speech, they don't know any details about the phone numbers they call. It's a shady practice at best, a scam at worst and I'm reporting it for fraud.
She said that she is from Statistics if Canada and trued to get information from me even I said that I’m not giving the personal information to strangers. She was still asking my address and then she said that if I don’t believe that it’s Statistics, I can call to another number, she can provide. Funny scammers.
Claimed to be from statistics canada but had no statistics on the current owner of the house at the address she asked if I lived at. I know who used to live there. Years and years ago. Both deceased.
She said she was from statistics Canada. I said you are calling from an international number, said immediately that you are a liar, a terrorist, I will report you and never call me again.
I just received a call from
1 (833) 977-XXXX.
The woman claimed to be from "Statistics Canada."
There are so many telephone scams with people claiming they're from various government offices that I told her that I wasn't interested.
She responded that she hadn't asked me anything yet.
I told her I'm not interested in any surveys.
Then she asked if I lived at (and proceeded to rattle off my address). I don't confirm or give out my personal information to random phone callers.
They have called me twice and have left a voicemail that was from an actual person “this is genevieve “last name muffled” calling from statistics canada please call us back at this number and provide this reference number” so it seems suspicious because what is this about? Why would they call?
Says they are Statistics Canada and to call back regarding a Case ID. Statistics Canada would never contact you in this manner and this should be ignored as a predatory scam.
Called saying they are from Statistics Canada, But callers ID says it’s from the United States. Looking for someone who is not associated with my number “Michael”. Pretty sure it’s a scam.
They said they are from Statistics Canada. However, I know Statistics Canada they know your name and address and will send you a letter first. The call i just received from 8339778287 has no idea what my name is. So i think its a scam.
