DO NOT PROVIDE THEM WITH ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.
They claim to be an ID protection service affiliated with TD and backed by Equifax and Transunion but couldn’t speak to their PIPEDA compliance. I was friendly about it on the call but they hung up as soon as I mentioned filing a compliance challenge.
Don't talk or trust anyone on the phone even if they say details that are very convincing. Your bank would never have a number without caller I. D! And if they seem like it's very real to be your bank say ok I'm going to come in person to address this issue. Then go to your bank in person. Always always ALWAYS hangup and go to your bank in person. Even if it was truly your bank, it's not worth the chance of it not being our bank. Never trust anyone on the phone. If it's a real big issue that you
I’m worried because I gave him my information but said “no” to the approval until
I spoke with my td branch directly. Should I be worried? What will they do. What can they do? I did not give him my credit card number. But I did give my name and date of birth.
Some guy pretended to be a TD bank staff and was trying to sell me some kind of Id assist service, asking for personal details. Do not give any personal details!!! Just hang up and block and maybe report.
Do NOT give your personal information over the phone. I even told the guy that I looked into ID Assist, it’s a scam!!!!!!! He still went on to sell me ID assist, I told him again it’s a scam!!! He was pushy and I hung up on him.
4169410407 is blocked on my phone list. I cannot recall when I blocked the number, so I tried to call back. It immediately got though and a gentalman answered stating that they are affiliated to TD, and asked me for my name. I thanked him and hanged up the phone.
Hubby answered this call/number last week, and stated it is TD calling for me, and I said I don't have an acct with them, so when he started to reply, they hung up. Now, they continue to call about 3 times a day, and have now switched to the number ending in 8. I have not picked-up on any of those calls. I will block them, now that I have read other negative, scammer comments. If companies/persons don't leave me a message on the 1st or 2nd call, I usually figure it's a scammer.
Similar experience with the other comments. Got a guy claiming to be calling on behalf of TD and selling a service called ID assist for fraud detection. They wanted me to confirm my name and email so they could send a credit report together with a 30-day free trial that is a "benefit" given to TD bank customers. I declined and they got pushy. Do yourself a favour and don't answer this number and block it.
As others have mentioned, the caller is trying to sell a service that comes with a 30 day free trial of ID assist "on behalf of TD bank", to protect against identity fraud. Asks to confirm personal information such as your DOB, full name, address, etc. Even though I indicated I was not interested in the free trial at all, they insisted that it would be beneficial and that I had nothing to lose given I would not provide any payment information. If you receive this call, either hang up or state yo
Ugh, I gave her my full name and e-mail number, she asked for my date of birth and then it clicked in that TD should know this stuff. Got very defensive when asked why don't you know this. Hung up. Can they mess with me if they have my full name and e-mail?
(416) 941-0407, “Toronto, ON”, called for the 1st time just now (Nov 3/21). I didn’t pick up, no voicemail. Looked up their phone number and it’s a landline but with zero information about it (odd).
SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM. I read other posts saying they also use the same number ending ‘8’
This is a scam. The thing is they are calling a number that I only gave for contact information to my bank and government services. So TD or Canadian government's database got hacked. Thanks for not warning us guys
Said she was from TD. Some credit card protection, I declined and they would not let it go. Its definitely a scam because it seems to be the same thing as what everyone else is saying. Ignore it
This women just called me from “TD CREDIT CARDS” should sounded very desperate for me to say yes or okay to some fraud protection for 19. 99 a month. I kept giving her reasons why I preffer not too ( I have an appt at my home branch Thursday anyways ) so I said I’ll discuss it with them. She was pushy for me to agree to this and said I wouldn’t be able to speak to anyone about it at TD (. Wth?! ) she was so so pushy I knew right away it didn’t seem right to be honest.
She called me saying from RBC credit cards theft insurance, she had my name and ask my email address. I gave my email address but I had a feeling of scammers. Beware it’s a scam.
Missed a call and I called back, they answered immediately and stated that it was TD credit card and banking and requested for my name. I asked for the purpose of the call and they said they couldn’t disclose that for privacy reasons. Seemed very legit but the lady on the phone was ridden in anxiety and rush. I gave a fake name and they said it didn’t match their records and that was the end of the call.
I got a call from this number, the lady offered me identity theft protection linked to SGL or SLG I believe. She had my name and postal code and wanted to confirm my address, email address and dob. And asked me to say yes to free 30 day trial and subscription of $19. 99 after wards. I called td and the rep said they have Ida on the Canadian side, this call is fishy. I reported it to TD fraud
Woman called me asking for my name, address, birthday, etc... Claiming she was from TD. I thought it was weird because this is information they should already have on file. When I asked her why she didn't already have this information, she told me that she only had my name and postal code. She was being sickeningly nice, and when I said I had to go she became slightly aggressive. Definitely a scam. Thank god I gave her false information.
Called me claiming to be from TD about a credit card free trial or something. I told her I was fine with my current credit card and she backed off. Came on here and found out it seems to be a scam. Be careful with this number. Don’t answer and block it after if you do answer.
This number claims to be some type of company for you to see any frauds on your credit card, and they wanted me to give them my name and email.
Do not trust this number.
They claimed they were calling from TD Bank regarding a new ID Assist program to monitor your credit history and protect against identity theft. They asked for my name, DOB and email address and offered me a free 30-day trial for the program and that I would be charged $19. 99/month after the free trial. They said they would send me an email with the confirmation information for the program within 3-5 business days.
I called TD Bank right after to ask if this number is a legitimate TD number
Seemed like a scam, said she was with ID assist and with TD credit card. Trying to combat credit fraud. Ironically seemed like she was the fraud... Asked me to confirm my first and last name and email so she could send a FREE credit score and check for a scammer. Didn't answer my questions directly either.
They kept asking for my information which a bank should already know. Checked with my bank and they are not affiliated with them. Do not give your information to them.
I was on the phone with my workplace this morning, and I was getting a call from this number on the other line.
It was a woman, and she was asking me to confirm my first and last name before she can give me any other information. I kept telling her that I don't trust her, and why is the number not a business number from TD bank.
I don't think this call is safe, but since I received to give the caller my name she hung up the phone.
