Received email saying they couldn’t take payment for my on line delivery and to call 0800 056 8446 saying it was from Sainsburys.

This is a genuine Sainsbury’s number.

It is real. I phoned Sainsbury's customer service and they confirmed the text was real and there realy was a problem with my payment.

I phoned a contact number from their webpage to be safe but confirmed that this was indeed due to my bank doing an extra security check before payment was taken.

My card on the account had hit the limit. Within seconds of me giving them new card details, the confirmation email of the entire order had come through. NOT A SCAM.

SCAM Said it was a sainsbury's number about a delivery. I did not have a delivery today. Had already collected last order; I checked the website and there was no problem with payment noted. Had a text from same number a few days ago about a network outage causing a problem with sainsburys delivery. There was no network outage.

Genuine number, checked and not a scam.

Sainsbury's; checked with their Twitter who confirmed it was them. Just asked for CSV number for payment to go through on a grocery order.

Got email from Sainsbury's (service@sainsburys. Co. Uk) wrt failed payment. Not comfortable with them asking for CCV number on the phone, so Sainsbury's may need to review that practice.

Stupidly put old payment details in so payment was declined. Called sainsburys customer care instead of the 08000568446 number but they confirmed it was legit

Had a failed payment notification from Sainsbury’s. Phoned their helpline rather than this number and they were very helpful. Just seemed to be a glitch in the banking system and they retried successfully (didn’t have to provide any banking details).

Text from Sainsburys to call number due to payment failure. Had had another payment failure earlier to someone else as the bank had decided to do a security check. Checked with the bank who confirmed it was a payment to sainsburys.

Called to say a payment for groceries had failed (card needed updating online).

Hi for those having problems probably means they've got your number in error but this appears a safe number into the Sainsbury's system. They passed my questions (about an expected order) and I did not have to give them pass words etc monies correctly withdrawn from a replacement card for correct amount to Sainsburys SO THIS IS SAFE

Sent me an SMS saying that my usual debit card had a problem and to ring this number to give them all the card details. This has never happened before in all of 5 years so ignored it. Went and picked up my order with no problems whatsoever. Therefore totally suspect this as Phishing. Nearly fell for it.

Just had a text saying it's Sainsbury's. Called and got a very noisy call centre with heavily accented operator. They couldn't confirm anything about my order so I hung up.

I've had several calls over the weeks from different numbers claiming to be about a Sainsburys grocery delivery. I don't use Sainsburys. I haven't answered or rung back because not sure if it is a scam. The call from this number said payment had failed for today's delivery and to ring and pay for it. I can't say if this is genuine or not
